Villa des Grues
Holiday home for 10 guests at the edge of the forest,
with views across the valley to far beyond Nadrin.
Space, peace and a window full of nature
At the top of a quiet little street in Filly, the large window looks out over woods and meadows to far beyond Nadrin. The forest starts right next to the house, and the walking trails around the lake of the Barrage de Nisramont are a 5-minute walk away.
Inside there is room for a large family or group of friends: a spacious living room with two seating areas, a long dining table, an open fireplace and, downstairs, a wellness room with sauna and a games room with table football. On a rainy day it is just as good here as in the sunshine.
- Bed and bath linen are included. On arrival the beds are made up for the number of guests booked.
- All inclusive: cleaning, utilities and firewood.

Why “des Grues”
Cranes fly over this region
“Grues” is French for cranes. Twice a year, the common cranes of Europe fly over the Ardennes. In autumn, from late October into December, when the cold sets in far up north, they head south in large flocks. Most of them spend the winter in Spain. In spring, from late February to April, they return along the same route to their breeding grounds in Scandinavia and the Baltic states. On a good day, thousands of them pass over at once.
From the terrace you often hear them before you see them: a melancholy, trumpeting krroo-krroo, high up in long V formations.
Want to know when they are coming? The European Crane Migration Network follows the migration live, from southern Spain to Scandinavia, and forecasts when they will pass over Belgium. You can find their reports on the Facebook page Kraanvogeltrek over België en Nederland.

House rules
- Quiet outside between 10 pm and 8 am, out of respect for the neighbours.
- No smoking in the house.
- No parties or fireworks.
- No open fires in the garden or the woods. The barbecue on the terrace is fine.
- Only leave ash from the barbecue or the fireplace once it has cooled completely, at the edge of the woods. Never throw away hot ash: serious risk of forest fire.
- No deep-frying indoors.
- All rubbish goes in the container, which must always be locked. Never leave a bag outside: raccoons will tear it open.
- The woods next to the house are the neighbours’ private property. Keep them tidy and leave any dens and structures built by others as they are.
- Switch the sauna off after use.
